Double Rainbow. Oh-My-God!

Now, I'm not going to go and get as excited as this guy but driving home today there was this gorgeous double rainbow courtesy of the rain we have been having lately. It was kind of cool because it was so huge it felt like I was about to drive into it (and I secretly had my fingers crossed there would be a pot of gold at my front door!)


This is easily one of the clearest and brightest rainbows I have ever seen and probably the closest I've seen to a complete rainbow. These photos hardly do it any justice.

Excuse me, Matt Preston. You cannot put something like this in the Sunday Times and not expect me (and my lovely assistant) to give them a whirl. Fantastic way to use up the Easter chocolate without feeling guilty from just scoffing eggs and bunnies, but these are definitely a once-a-day kind of treat!

The Melbourne Diaries- Day 4 & 5

Day 4- Breakfast on Block Place, a quick stroll through the city to pose with a golden man before boarding a train to South Yarra. I didn't find much on Chapel St as I'd already done most of my shopping and I think Ben was more interested in the cars that we spotted haha. That night we went to the Comedy Festival Gala, and not to name drop, but I saw Geoffrey Rush! Ben dared me to, but I was way too chicken to go and say anything, I know if I were famous and going to enjoy a show I would get annoyed at people disturbing me (I had no idea what I would have said anyway: "Hi Geoffrey Rush..... :D..... ok bye :D" would probably be how it would go down) but still it was quite exciting. The debate on whether or not 'This is the End of the World' was quite good, but I think Jason Byrne might have failed debating in high school :| We were seated in the front row and Paul McDermott yelled something at us about chewing gum, so if you watch the televised version, you might get to see my stunned-mullet/deer-in-the-headlights face. 

Day 5- Our last day. We packed our bags nice and early and left them in storage after we checked out so we could still enjoy our final jaunt around the city. We munched on more macarons at Brunetti before picking up the last of our shopping and stumbling upon more great alleyways. Then it was off to the airport where I gave Ben a mini lesson on the basics of ISO, aperture and shutter speeds before our flight home. Now all that's left is to finish the Krispy Kremes on the kitchen bench that are staring me in the face each morning.

It was really nice getting away for a few days, but there's nothing like coming home to the comfort of your own bed. In addition to the shopping, I managed to pick up a bit of a cold, so I'm at home all rugged up while I write these posts. Hopefully it passes soon so I have the energy to put away all my luggage as it's still laying strewn all over my bedroom floor eep.

The Melbourne Diaries- Day 1, 2 & 3

Day 1- Our flight got in at around 7am, and by the time we got the SkyBus to our hotel in peak traffic it was around 8:30am. Of course we couldn't check in yet, so we went gallivanting in search of breakfast (2 eggs on toast any way you like for $5.50!) Found some delish macarons, browsed some cute and eclectic stores, indulged in Krispy Kremes. Moseyed on down to Fed Square and had a quick stroll by the river then back to the hotel for a much needed afternoon nanna nap. Hoped to go see the Disney art exhibit at the ACMI, but we were a few minutes too late and ended up watching the free show at Fed Sq that night before hunting out some dinner (ended up at Nandos haha).

Day 2- Slept in until 10:30 (I think our bodies were still on WA time- and the hotel light blocking curtains didn't help!) Made our way on to Sally's Kitchen for coffees and lunch before heading to Docklands for a spot of DFO shopping together. The boy later left me to do my thing (shop for hours) while he ventured to the Crown and put his poker skills to good use and we met up later for dinner at an Indian restaurant. Ben like to be funny sometimes. This usually results in glasses being tipped over, bread baskets tumbling to the floor and the entire restaurant falling to an awkward silence :P it's why I love him.

Day 3- Breakfast at the lovely AIX Creperie on Centre Place, this alleyway is full of street art (actually most of the alleys are full of street art, but I think I heard a tour guide mention that this one is actually a commissioned/legal one). Further on down the lane I just could not go past Little Cupcakes and the pistachio mini cupcake was absolutely divine! Later on in the day I became a pseudo Essendon supporter for our outing to the MCG. I'm not usually into AFL but it was quite an exciting game to watch and squished in among 78,000 other people the atmosphere was quite amazing (if only I could repeat some of the heckles being yelled by the guy behind us haha) the nail biting game ended up being the 3rd draw for the 2011 season. Ben lost all his bets, although Fletcher gained him some decent Dream Team points. I think.
